The Santé et Services sociaux de Québec has produced the Practical Guide to Mental Health Rights which is designed for the family and friends of individuals with mental health problems. Its main purpose is to provide them with legal information and to address their concerns in this regard.
The Guide was updated in 2009 based on the amendments to the Act respecting health services and social services and is in keeping with the policy directions set out in the 2005-2010 Mental Health Action Plan with regard to the promotion, respect, and protection of the rights of mental health service users.
It is now available, free of charge, at Friends for Mental Health.
Last June, Friends for Mental Health received their certification as a certified organization of the FFAPAMM (Federation of families and friends of people with a mental illness). Ginette Laurin, Treasurer at Friends (left), received the certificate confirming the official certification in order to align with the framework of our federation, the FFAPAMM. This regulatory framework wants to ensure that basic quality services are equally accessible throughout the province. Friends embarked on this daunting process 2 years ago.
SURVEY RESULTS
We finally have the results of our survey and focus group!!!
Its purpose is to help identify areas of particular strength in our organization’s management and delivery of services as well as areas where services can be improved. This is made possible thanks to Centraide’s Training and Coaching Project in Planning and Evaluation with the assistance of COCo (Centre for Community Organizations).
We would sincerely like to thank the participants of this evaluation and invite you to read the results.
